Revival Meetins!

We are having revival meetings at our church this week with Evangelist Dwight Smith and his family! You may ask, "What are revival meetings?" Well, I would say revival meetings are a special time that a church sets aside specifically to be refreshed, revitalized, and renewed! We are praying that souls would be saved, and lives changed for God's glory!
The one thing that troubles me most about special meetings is the fact that decisions are made for the Lord all week long, but change never takes place, or it never lasts. How sad it is, when God shows us something, and we are convicted, and we make a decision for the Lord, but a week after the evangelist leaves, we are no more different than we were before he came. So, was it a decision based on fear? It should be a decision made because its the right thing to do. A vow to the Lord is a serious thing, as we see in Ecclesiastes 5: 4. There is a song that I love and its called "Stirred, But Not Changed." That is so true! We may agree with everything that is said by the preacher, and in all reality, said by God, but if we arent willing to give up whatever God would have us to do, and change to become more like His Son, we were just stirred, and not changed. "Im so tired of being stirred about the lost that need to hear. Im so tired of being stirred that His coming is so near. Im so tired of being stirred, but not being changed. So this time, Lord change me, let the work begin just now. This time Lord change me. please change me somehow!"
Be changed for HIM!

  1. well dear snicker lover, i understand what you are saying. i think many times people get caught up in the excitement of the moment, peer pressure,etc.... they have good intentions but there are many things that keep them from being or doing what they should be or do. they may have deep disapointments in their hearts in where they are broken, they may have deep sorrows that only they know of that are to deep to even begin to share with another. we never really know what is in ones heart that "prevents" them, but i have learned to know in their time, in Gods healing time they will press on and be what God wants them to be and that is not going to always look like someone elses walk and thats ok, we each walk before God. prayer and love is what we best can offer that brother or sister that seems to of been Stirred, but not changed.love, A.Julie

  2. its interesting that you should mention that, because Bro. Dwight actually touched on that in his message tonight. he was talking about a critical spirit. there are people who are hurt, and they have broken hearts, but Who was the one who was "tempted like as we are yetwithout sin"? and "wounded for our transgression, he was bruised for our iniquity"? Christ felt every hurt that weve ever felt or will ever feel, and He wants so much to heal that hurt, but we have to let Him, and realize that His way is best, and He has a purpose for every trial and hurt in our lives. We cant use the excuse that "we are too hurt to serve the Lord, or to obey His call." What if Jesus said, "My Father, Im too hurt that man chose to reject Me, to spit on Me, to scorn Me, to do Your will, and die on the cross."? But praise the Lord, there came a time when He said "Not my will, but Thine be done." When we get to the point where we realise that God is enough, that is when He will heal our hurts, and our broken hearts. I totally agree that prayer and love is necessary, but if we never tell a hurting soul that Jesus is our only Comforter, then all the prayer and love in the world is not enough, and that person will depend on people for comfort, and not on God. ok, thats my sermon for tonight, and i typed it with all due respect. love you, kristen <3

  3. I was actually talking about the saved people in the first post. Christians that are broken-brothers and sisters who need our love and prayers. You are right, the lost do need to have us tell them about Christs salvation, for with out Christ we are lost with nothing. I like this blog thing, i think it will be neat! and thank you for your due respect!!!-A.julie

  4. i was talking about Christians too. so many Christians have been hurt in churches along the way. i have sympathy for them, but i look and see so many of those hurt in past churches no longer attending church because they were hurt. that is wrong. "forsaking not the assembling of ourselves together as the manner of some is." alot of these people are no longer serving the Lord, and are often critical or bitter towards the house of God and His people. And Christians of all people should know that the only true comfort comes from God!
Im excited about this blog too!
